Celebrating the writing of & from precariousness

A DeSTINATION, A HOME

We prioritise and showcase the work of writers who have experienced or continue to experience precariousness. Dead King is a home for a wide range of work, we accept poetry, prose, flash fiction, artwork, and non-fiction writing.

I dove into Dead King and sank right to the bottom. I’ve lived in words before but these feel like a home away from home away from home.

Creation is a political act. Writing is nothing without this acknowledgement.

As such, we aim to prioritise writers who continue to survive precariousness.
If you’re writing from a position of precariousness we want to hear from you.

It’s not up to us to define an absolute ‘precariousness’ but it can come to include experiences of:

  • disability
  • incarceration
  • poverty
  • homelessness
  • migration
  • people seeking asylum
  • detention
  • mental health
  • addiction
  • discrimination
  • survival

We welcome unpublished, original work, with no age or country limitations. We celebrate creativity in its many forms, but unfortunately we are only currently able to accept submissions in English.
